The two were arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell on Oct 3, 2023 for allegedly receiving illegal funding from China. They were booked under UAPA and IPC. On Dec 22, 2023 court had granted police another 60 days to finish probe. The earlier time limit of 90 days would have ended on Jan 1. The NewsClick duo also face a money laundering case pertaining to alleged overvaluing of shares, diversion of funds and violation of FDI norms.
