'No coercive steps will be taken against Congress party in view of Lok Sabha polls': I-T department to SC
The Income Tax department conveyed to the Supreme Court its decision to abstain from enforcing any 'coercive measures' against the Congress concerning tax demand notices totaling around Rs 3,500 crore, particularly in light of the impending Lok Sabha elections. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, speaking on behalf of the I-T department, guaranteed the court that there would be no immediate interventions until a conclusive resolution is reached.
