Spousal consent not must for organ donation: Madhya Pradesh high court
The Madhya Pradesh high court has ruled that the consent of a spouse is not mandatory for organ donation. In a directive to a Bhopal hospital, the court has instructed the processing of paperwork for a woman donating her kidney to her brother. The court emphasized that the Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act of 1994 does not include any provision requiring spousal consent for organ donation.
