A mysterious airstrip nearing completion on Yemen’s remote Abd al-Kuri Island raises regional security concerns. Satellite images suggest the UAE is behind the project, potentially to counter Houthi rebel attacks that threaten global shipping routes. As tensions escalate, the runway could be pivotal for surveillance and military operations in the Gulf of Aden. With the Houthis’ continued assaults on Israel and U.S. forces, and suspected weapons smuggling from Iran, this new development could further destabilize the already volatile region.
