P Chidambaram counters PM Modi, says Congress didn’t oppose President Murmu over skin colour

During his election campaign on Wednesday, Modi had said Congress didn’t vote for Murmu in 2022 poll because of “the colour of her skin”. Terming Modi’s comments “blatantly racist”, Chidambaram said, “Support for a candidate was not based on the colour of the skin. Opposition to a candidate was also not based on the colour of the skin.” He demanded to know why PM brought the colour of the skin into the election debate?"
