SC to hear former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's plea against ED arrest today
Monday, 13 May 2024 A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta will hear the plea of Soren in which he has challenged the May 3 order of the Jharkhand High Court dismissing his petition against the arrest.
Hemant Soren is set to take the oath as Jharkhand's Chief Minister on November 28 after the INDIA bloc's decisive victory, winning 56 out of 81 Assembly seats. Soren resigned before staking claim to form the government and was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader by INDIA bloc MLAs. The alliance, comprising JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML), showcased its political dominance. Soren submitted his claim with MLA support, highlighting the bloc’s unity, while the NDA secured 24 seats in the elections.
