67,000 displaced by ethnic conflict in Manipur a record, says report

In 2023, nearly six lakh people were internally displaced in India, with over 11% in Manipur due to ethnic conflict. The unrest in Churachandpur escalated due to a Manipur High Court ruling on granting Scheduled Tribe status to the Meitei community, while natural disasters like floods and earthquakes also contributed to displacements.
