‘No proposal made’: MEA rejects Maldives minister's claim on FTA

The ministry of external affairs (MEA) stated that the Indian government has not made any formal proposal for a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) with the Maldives. This announcement follows comments by Maldives' minister, Mohamed Saeed, who mentioned that India had shown interest in establishing an FTA with the Maldives.
