Emergency reminds us to protect Constitution: PM Modi

IndiaTimes Monday, 24 June 2024
PM Modi urged protection of the Constitution during the maiden session of the new Lok Sabha, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding it from subversion. His remarks came as the opposition highlighted allegations against the BJP regarding constitutional changes. Opposition MPs flashed copies of Constitution in what appeared to be a celebration of the success in paring down BJP’s numbers. The remarks appeared to be a prelude to a BJP campaign to recall the days of the Emergency when most of its stalwarts were put in prison.
