Home ministry takes action against Bengal's top cop for 'maligning' governor office

IndiaTimes Sunday, 7 July 2024
The home ministry initiated disciplinary action against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and DCP (Central) Indira Mukherjee on Sunday. This action is in response to allegations of "maligning" the office of the Bengal governor, as reported by the news agency PTI citing an official. The move follows a letter from Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), requesting their removal. Mukherjee is currently leading the Special Enquiry Team investigating a molestation charge against Bose by a former Raj Bhavan staffer.
