North Delhi railway underpass that took 8 years to build is a mess at a hint of rain

IndiaTimes Thursday, 25 July 2024 ()
The Rampura railway underpass in north Delhi, opened in 2017, has been consistently plagued by waterlogging. Even minor rainfall causes heavy flooding, severely disrupting traffic and daily activities. Local governing figures have been caught in a blame game over the issue. While councillor Meenu Goel cited measures like drain cleaning, MLA Preeti Tomar mentioned plans for higher capacity pumps and renovations. However, nearby garbage dumps worsen the problem, spilling into drains and causing blockages. The area remains poorly maintained, further compounding the issues.
