Govt removes minimum export price on onion

The Indian government has scrapped the minimum export price of USD 550 per tonne for onions to support farmers and enhance exports. This decision is particularly significant with Maharashtra's assembly elections approaching, a major onion-producing region. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has enforced this policy change immediately to take advantage of the global oversupply.
