In the early 1970s, Pakistan attempted to replicate India's Cirus reactor design, which was integral to India's first nuclear test in 1974. Munir Ahmed Khan led the effort, but challenges arose from differences between the Cirus reactor and Pakistan's Kanupp. Recently, the US imposed sanctions on Pakistan for its advanced missile technology.
