The vast 972,000 km² is shared by Quttinirpaaq National Park and Northeast Greenland National Park in Greenland. While Gates of the Arctic National Park in the United States is 336,000 km² in size, Australia's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is 344,400 km² in size. Last but not least, the 328,000 km² Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Botswana and South Africa safeguards a variety of ecosystems and rare species.
