BSF detects tunnel along International border in Kathua's Hiranagar sector
Border Security Force detected a tunnel along the International border in Kathua's Hiranagar sector.
The detected tunnel was approximately 150 meter long.
BSF personnel considered it as a deliberate attempt by Pakistan to push in terrorists into India.
BSF, IG NS Jamwal said, "The tunnel detected along IB in Hiranagar sector of Kathua is approx 150 meter long, proper engineering effort has gone into construction of this tunnel.
This is a deliberate effort of Pak to push in terrorists into India.
Since August 5, the Petrapole border between India and Bangladesh has been under tight security with reduced movement of people and goods. The increased measures are in response to ongoing unrest in Bangladesh. Despite the overall decline in trade, the border has facilitated the entry of several Bangladeshis into India for medical treatment. The unrest has led to a near-total halt in trade, impacting traders significantly. Border Security Force (BSF) Director General DS Chaudhary has visited the site, and on Tuesday, some Bangladeshis and Indians stranded in each other's countries managed to return home.

This measure restricts movement within a 200-meter zone of the Indian side of the border to address potential security threats. With nine battalions of the Border Security Force (BSF) already deployed, the state government is prepared to send additional forces if necessary. Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong announced the curfew following a high-level meeting with key officials, including the DIG BSF and the Director General of Police. According to initial reports, the terrorists fired upon the vehicle, prompting a swift retaliation from the soldiers, which led to an intense encounter. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to bolster security efforts. This attack comes just a day after security forces successfully neutralized six terrorists in twin encounters in Kulgam. "The bodies of two terrorists were recovered from the Modergam encounter site, while four bodies were recovered from the Chinnigam site on Sunday," officials informed PTI.
