'Don't think budget will get any favour for farmers': Kerala Agriculture Min
Speaking to ANI in Thiruvananthapuram on January 27, Kerala Agriculture Minister, VS Sunil Kumar spoke on farmers agitation and upcoming budget.
Kumar said, "Agitation is going on and discussions are underway but Centre (central government) is stuck on their stand.
How will this solve problem?
They may try to dilute the agitation through some declarations for farmers and their sector." "I don't think budget will get any favour for farmers," he added.
The counting of votes for Lok Sabha Elections 2024 began today at 8 am. All eyes are on whether the exit poll predictions will hold ground and Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comes back to power with a historic third straight term. A party or a coalition needs to win at least 272 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats to be in power at the centre. With one seat, Surat already decided in NDA's kitty unopposed, votes for 542 seats will be counted today. Narendra Modi will be the first Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three straight terms, if the NDA emerges victorious under his leadership in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
On exit polls, Congress MP & candidate from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor says, "...Expectations were set on 26th April because once people have cast their votes and the boxes are sealed in the strong room then there is no further room for any argument or debate...There was no cross-voting in the previous elections. We have neither benefited from cross-voting in the past nor do we expect to see any cross-voting this time...We will win on our merit or we will fail but my view is that we are winning..."

Several parts of Kerala were hit by torrential rains and gusty winds, causing flooding in Kochi and surrounding areas. The downpours led to traffic snarls and uprooted trees across the state. Thiruvananthapuram has been experiencing heavy rains since Monday night, with streams overflowing in villages due to continuous rainfall since early morning.
