The UK is formally applying to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The free trade pact which includes Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand generates around 13% of the world's income and covers a market of approximately 500 million people.
International Trade Secretary Liz Truss says the UK will make a formal request on Monday, with negotiations expected to begin this spring.

Sir Keir Starmer urged Vladimir Putin to "get out of Ukraine" as he addressed the G20 summit in Rio, Brazil, on Tuesday. Thousands of farmers descended on Westminster on Tuesday to protest against the inheritance tax changes for farming businesses introduced in last month’s Budget. The changes mean inheritance tax of 20% will apply to combined agricultural and business property worth more than £1 million. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has announced additional funding to the police force, as she set out plans to overhaul the work of forces in England and Wales. In a speech on Tuesday, Ms Cooper said "direct central government funding" for policing will increase by over half a billion pounds by next year.
