Glacier burst: UP will extend every possible help to Uttarakhand, says Deputy CM
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that his state is ready to help the Uttarakhand Government during the time of the tragedy which took place in Chamoli.
He said that UP has also issued an alert of the effect of the glacier burst and a toll free number will also be issued regarding it.
The glacier burst led to the increase in the water level of Dhualiganga river, and subsumed nearby villages.
Recent bypolls across seven Indian states resulted in significant gains for the opposition INDIA bloc, which won 10 out of 13 assembly seats. The Congress party secured victories in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while the Trinamool Congress swept all four seats in West Bengal. The BJP won two seats, including one in Madhya Pradesh. In a devastating road accident today, at least 18 people lost their lives and many others were injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Among the deceased were three women and one child, police reported. The double-decker bus, which was en route from Bihar’s Sitamarhi to Delhi, crashed into a milk tanker from behind on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early this morning. The force of the collision was immense, causing several passengers to be flung out of the bus, police stated.

A massive landslide today blocked the Badrinath National Highway in Uttarakhand's Chamoli, disrupting vehicular movement. A 30-second video shows a massive portion of a hill crumbling and falling on the road and large rocks blocking the route at Chungi Dhar in Joshimath. People could be heard screaming due to panic and running for their safety, the video shows. Many of them were also seen capturing the act on their phones. Hundreds of people and vehicles were stuck on both sides of the road due to the landslide. The Badrinath highway was blocked in the morning and the authorities were clearing the debris when the landslide occurred.
