Tourism, fishing activities banned in Thiruvananthapuram after factory oil spill into sea

A major incident happened in Kerala, where furnace oil spilled into sea after glass furnace pipe broke at a factory in Thiruvananthapuram on Feb 10.

Fishing and beach activities have been banned in the region for two days as precautionary measures.

District Collector Navjot Khosa said, "Fishermen in the sea identified the change of colour of the sea and alerted the authority about the oil spill.

We immediately identified leakage source and plugged it.

The agencies patrolled around 25-30 km of the area."
