Manipur Police rescue 3 abducted laborers from Kuki militants
After continuous search operation for three days, 3 laborers abducted by Kuki militants were rescued by Manipur Police on Feb 1.
An exchange of fire took place at the hill range between Boljang and New Boljang.
The rescued laborers have been identified as Yumnam Sushilkumar Singh from Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai, Laishram Debchandra Singh from Khangabok Mamang Leikai and Ngangbam Gunadhar of Kanglasiphai.
On verification of the rescued persons, they stated that the three of them were abducted by the suspected Militants demanding ransom.
One AK-56 assault rifles was also recovered from their hideout area.
In a tense flare-up in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, protesters from the Kuki tribes clashed with central security forces, demanding the withdrawal of forces from the hills. The situation escalated after the protesters attempted to stop transport as part of their economic blockade. When security forces tried to dismantle bunkers and disperse the crowd, violent clashes ensued, leaving several injured, including the Superintendent of Police. Watch as tensions rise in this ongoing conflict, further straining the region’s already fragile peace.
