Wreath laid to JandK cop killed in Budgam encounter
Wreath laying ceremony of JandK Police Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Altaf, who lost his life in Budgam encounter on February 19, was held in Srinagar today.
SPO Mohammad Altaf lost his life while SgCt Manzoor Ahmad got injured in the ongoing operation.
The encounter was started at Beerwah area of Budgam.
The Preparations for Second Phase of Kashmir Elections 2024 is underway, with voting on 26 seats including key battlegrounds Budgam and Kanderbal. BJP aims for a major victory but faces strong competition from Regional parties and independent candidates. All eyes are on Omar Abdullah, who is contesting from two seats, to see if he can secure both.

In a tragic incident, three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives, and dozens were injured after a bus carrying them skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The bus, which was en route for election duty, was carrying 35 BSF personnel when the accident occurred in the Brell Waterhail area. Six of the injured are in critical condition and have been rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. The civilian driver of the bus was also injured in the accident, which has shocked the local community.
