Kashmiri youth gets prestigious Youth Icon Award for contribution to society
A youth from Kashmir is making the valley proud by his efforts towards the society.
Ehtisham Khan bagged Youth Icon Award for his contribution and participation in the field of sports, social work and representing the Nation (India) at different International platforms. The Association of People of Asia's Jammu and Kashmir chapter felicitated Ehtisham Khan with the prestigious award.
Ehtisham hails from Srinagar's Batamaloo and he is pursuing his bachelor's degree in engineering.
He started his career in snow skiing and represented J-K, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh at the national level in snow skiing.
Khan is also a bronze medalist in rock climbing, an ultra-marathon runner, a mountain biker and a founding member of the J-K Mountain Biking Association.
The award was conferred in recognition of his contribution to society, sports and for representing India at different international platforms. APA aims to promote peace, create conditions for social betterment and communal harmony.
Ehtisham Khan is pursuing a degree in Engineering from Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology.
Kashmiris prepare for Ashura with solemnity, as mourners, including women and children, walk barefoot to commemorate Imam Hussain's martyrdom. Volunteer groups set up water stalls along routes to Imambara Zadibal. Despite a historic allowance of the 8th Muharram procession last year after 34 years, the traditional Ashura procession from Abiguzar to Imambara Zadibal remains banned.

The Indian Army on Sunday paid rich tributes to two soldiers who lost their lives in separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, which also resulted in the neutralisation of five militants. In a devastating road accident today, at least 18 people lost their lives and many others were injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Among the deceased were three women and one child, police reported. The double-decker bus, which was en route from Biharβs Sitamarhi to Delhi, crashed into a milk tanker from behind on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early this morning. The force of the collision was immense, causing several passengers to be flung out of the bus, police stated.
