Maha Shivratri: Special prayers offered at Mahakaleshwar Temple

Special prayers were offered at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on the occasion of 'Maha Shivratri'.

Devotees offered prayers and observe vrat on the day.

Hindu communities across the world dedicate this day to Lord Shiva and offer their devotion to the mighty God.

One of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country, the lingam at the Mahakala is believed to be Swayambhu (born of itself, deriving currents of power shakti) from within itself as against the other images and lingams which are ritually established and invested with mantra-shakti.
