Assam being divided, vote wisely’: Manmohan Singh’s message ahead of polling

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in a video message ahead of the first round of voting in the Assam Assembly polls urged people of the state to vote for a government that upholds the Constitution and the principles of democracy.

"It was my privilege to represent Assam in the Rajya Sabha, for 28 years from 1991 to 2019.

I am deeply grateful for the trust and affection of the people of Assam and for the friendship of Late Sri Hiteswar Saikia and Late Sri Tarun Gogoi.

In a strongly worded letter to Punjab voters, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using “hateful, unparliamentary terms to target either a specific section of society or the opposition.” Singh's letter comes ahead of the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for June 1, urging voters to protect democracy and the Constitution from what he describes as a despotic regime attempting to impose dictatorship in India. Singh criticised Modi for indulging in what he called the most vicious form of hate speeches, which he deemed purely divisive. He accused Modi of lowering the dignity of public discourse and the office of the prime minister. #ManmohanSingh #NarendraModi #Elections2024 #LokSabhaPolls2024 #PoliticalAttack #IndianPolitics #ModiVsSingh #ElectionCampaign #PoliticalRivalry #2024Elections #IndiaVotes #StingingAttack #ManmohanVsModi #ElectionFever #PoliticalDebate ~PR.152~ED.103~GR.124~HT.96~
