Operation underway to douse forest fire in Uttarakhand
Fire fighting operations are still underway to douse a massive wildfire that has been raging in a forest near the Budogi area of New Tehri district in Uttarakhand.
According to Koko Rose, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Tehri Forest Department, the fire has spread to at least one hectare of land.
"The damage caused by the fire will be assessed after the fire is under control.
We are requesting people to not set fire in the forest, and if a person is caught doing that, legal action will be taken," said Rose.
Recent bypolls across seven Indian states resulted in significant gains for the opposition INDIA bloc, which won 10 out of 13 assembly seats. The Congress party secured victories in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while the Trinamool Congress swept all four seats in West Bengal. The BJP won two seats, including one in Madhya Pradesh. These results are seen as a boost for the opposition and may indicate shifting political dynamics ahead of future elections.
