Chamoli avalanche: CM Tirath Rawat conducts aerial survey
Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Tirath Singh Rawat conducted an aerial survey of Sumna area of Joshimath Sector in Chamoli district on April 24, where an avalanche occurred yesterday due to heavy snowfall.
BRO is carrying out the operation but the connectivity remains affected," said CM Rawat while speaking to media persons.
According to Central Command of Indian Army, "291 persons have been rescued so far after a BRO Camp came under avalanche yesterday during heavy snowfall in Sumna area of Joshimath Sector in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand."

Tragedy struck in Jammu and Kashmirâs Poonch district on Tuesday evening when an Indian Army vehicle plunged into a 300-feet gorge along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the deaths of five soldiers. The incident occurred when the Army vehicle, belonging to the 11 Maratha Light Infantry, was en route from Nilam headquarters to Balnoi Ghora Post. The vehicle fell into the gorge, leaving 10 soldiers, including the driver, severely injured.
