Liquor rush in Karnataka after govt announces 2-week curfew
After Karnataka government announced a 14-day curfew in the state amid the raging pandemic, a long queue was seen outside a liquor shop in Bengaluru.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a press conference on April 26 said that all commercial activities will remain prohibited much like the weekend curfew in the state.
Only essential services will be allowed between 6pm - 10 am.
Public transport will also remain shut during lockdown.
The state recorded 34,804 COVID-19 cases on April 25, its highest ever single-day count.
Earlier on Sunday, the IMD stated that the monsoon has started shifting downward and that coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Konkan Goa will receive more than 20 cm.. DNA

In a devastating road accident today, at least 18 people lost their lives and many others were injured after the bus they were travelling in collided with another vehicle in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. Among the deceased were three women and one child, police reported. The double-decker bus, which was en route from Bihar’s Sitamarhi to Delhi, crashed into a milk tanker from behind on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early this morning. The force of the collision was immense, causing several passengers to be flung out of the bus, police stated.
