The Kremlin said yesterday that investigators were still considering the possibility that the plane carrying mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was downed on purpose, the first explicit acknowledgement that he may have been assassinated.
When asked about the investigation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "It is obvious that different versions are being considered, including the version - you know what we are talking about - letās say, a deliberate atrocity".
Asked if the International Civil Aviation Organisation would investigate the crash, Peskov said that the circumstances made it different, though he cautioned that investigators had made no formal conclusions yet about what exactly took place.
In a fiery exchange reflecting the deepening rift between Kyiv and Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov labelled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent remarks as ādelusional.ā This statement came in response to Zelensky's assertion during his address to the UN Security Council that Moscow could be forced into peace on Ukraineās terms. Peskov vehemently rejected this notion, warning that attempting to coerce Russia into peace is a "fatal mistake" that will have serious repercussions for Ukraine.

In response to recent Ukrainian drone strikes that damaged residential areas in Moscow's suburbs, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has sharply criticised the attacks, asserting that they have no place in legitimate military operations. Peskov condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure, describing it as a clear indication of the aggressive nature of the Ukrainian government. He emphasised that Russia must continue its military operations to protect against such attacks, while the Defense Ministry reported intercepting 144 drones during the overnight assault. The intensified drone strikes, which have increasingly targeted both residential and energy infrastructure, have heightened tensions and escalated the conflict.
