Rishi Sunak reveals changes to UK net zero commitments
Rishi Sunak has announced plans to row back on UK net zero commitments despite fierce backlash from leading industry figures and the prospect of a damaging rift in the Conservative Party.
In a press conference held inside Downing Street the Prime Minister said he would put back a ban on new fossil fuel cars by five years in a major U-turn among a raft of new measures.
Supporters of the government’s announcement have hailed it as a sensible and pragmatic approach.
Meanwhile critics of the announcement have slammed the government's decision.
