Labour: Rwanda treaty is 'not the answer'

Shadow Policing Minister Alex Norris said the Rwanda treaty is "not the answer" to a problem that "requires a serious answer." The minister said the Rwanda policy would not be part of Labour's approach to small boats as it fails to tackle criminal gangs.

It comes as Home Secretary James Cleverly travelled to Rwanda yesterday to sign the new treaty in a bid to fulfil the government's plan to send asylum seekers to the African nation.

UK Riots: Major Cities Brace For More Unrest As Anti-Racist Protests Surge Against Far-Right Mob

Thousands across the UK protested against far-right riots, sparked by a stabbing suspect identified as a Rwandan-born Cardiff resident. Major demonstrations unfolded in cities like London, Bristol, and Birmingham, with anti-racist crowds often outnumbering far-right groups. Heavy police deployment curbed planned far-right rallies. The unrest, fueled by false claims linking the suspect to Islam, resulted in injuries, looting, and over 100 rioters charged. #UK #UKRiots #LondonRiots #FarRightRiots #UKRacismRiots #Rwanda #UKunrest #Indianews #Worldnews #Oneindia #Oneindianews ~PR.320~ED.155~GR.121~HT.178~

Home secretary brands Rwanda scheme ‘shocking waste’

The previous government's Rwanda deportation scheme has already cost the British taxpayer £700 million, Yvette Cooper tells MPs, branding it the "most shocking waste of taxpayer money I have ever seen". The home secretary insists she will take urgent action to start clearing the asylum backlog in "one simple change" that she says will "save the taxpayer an estimated seven billion pounds over the next 10 years".
