Macron arrives in Germany for the first state visit by a French president in 24 years
Germany and France, the EU's largest economies, have long been seen as the driving force of European integration, despite occasional policy differences.
A deadly knife attackrocked eastern France, leaving one civilian dead and several police officers injured. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the incident, calling it an "Islamist terror act." The attacker, a 37-year-old on a terror watchlist, reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the assault before being arrested. France's national anti-terror prosecutors (PNAT) have taken charge of the investigation. This attack comes just a day after a similar 'Islamist terrorist' stabbing incident in Germany.
