EU to allocate €14 million help Canary Islands host migrants
The funds will come from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of a joint operation launched with Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
Nearly 500 illegal migrants arrived in the Canary Islands over the weekend, with five fishing boats carrying 296 people landing between Saturday and Sunday.
