Victoria Atkins has slammed the government's family farm tax, describing it as a "cruel policy" which will "destroy family farmining in the UK." The shadow environment secretary accused the Labour government of being "so disconnected from the countryside that they don't realise the damage they are making." Sir Keir Starmer said the UK must "double down" it's support for Ukraine after returning from the G20 summit in Brazil. Addressing the House of Commons on Thursday, the prime minister said it "could not be more clear" that "this is a man that wants destruction, not peace".
"After 1,000 days of war, I am clear that we must double down in our support. We will not be deterred or distracted by reckless threats," he added.

The energy minister has admitted the winter fuel payment cut was a "tough call" by the chancellor. Miatta Fahnbulleh urged pensioners struggling with their energy bills to get in touch with their suppliers. "We announced yesterday that there will be £500 million worth of support available to people this winter. I know people are worried about their energy bills this winter - please pick up the phone and speak to your supplier," she said.

Shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge has responded to speculation that Ukraine has fired UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles at targets inside Russia for the first time.
