Rachel Reeves has asserted that she is "confident" that her plans for Heathrow expansion will find the right balance between sustainable aviation and economic growth.
This comes a day after the chancellor's major speech outlining plans for economic growth and initiatives, including a third runway at Heathrow Airport and investments into the Oxford-Cambridge 'Growth Corridor'.

Along with an expansion of Heathrow Airport, the chancellor announced the government’s backing for housing, transport and other investment in the Oxford-Cambridge corridor, which she said could become “Europe’s Silicon Valley” and add £78 billion to the UK’s economy by 2035.
