PM says he will abolish NHS England

The prime minister has said he will abolish NHS England in a speech delivered on Thursday.

Keir Starmer said this will bring management of the NHS "back into democratic control".

"This move will put the NHS back at the heart of government where it belongs, freeing it to focus on patients, less bureaucracy, with more money for nurses," Mr Starmer added.

Report by Kennedyl.

New terrorism offence over planned attacks recommended

The UK's terror watchdog has recommended that a new offence to prevent mass casualty attacks before they happen, should be considered in light of the Southport murders. But the review commission by the Home Secretary following the attacks in July, also concluded that the terrorism definition should not be changed. Jonathan Hall KC said the legal definition is “already wide” and expanding the threshold would “increase the possibility of inaccurate use and, in theory, abuse”. Report by Kennedyl.
