Gauhati high court quashes Nagaland ban on dog meat trade
Tuesday, 6 June 2023 The Gauhati HC’s Kohima bench has quashed a Nagaland government ban on commercial import, trading of dogs and sale of dog meat in markets and dine-in restaurants, saying it “appears an accepted norm and food among people of Nagaland, even in modern times”.
A large quantity of arms, ammunition and other war-like stores was intercepted on Monday by Assam Rifles in Mon district of Nagaland close to the India-Myanmar.. IndiaTimes
Overnight, three medium-intensity explosions rocked a bridge in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, causing damage. The blasts occurred close to Sapormeina along National Highway-2, linking Imphal to Dimapur in Nagaland. This incident unfolded just two days prior to the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to take place in certain areas of Outer Manipur. According to a security official, the event transpired around 1:15 am near Sapormeina in Kangpokpi district.

Polling in 102 parliamentary seats across 21 states and Union Territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 7 am on April 19 and ended at 6 pm. Over 102 parliamentary constituencies in 21 states and union territories headed to the polling booth on Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
