Thursday, 3 August 2023 An Army jawan who was reported missing from Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir last week has been recovered, police said on Thursday. Javaid Ahmad Wani, posted in Ladakh, went missing on Saturday from his native Kulgam district while he was on leave.

In a fresh wave of violence, armed terrorists attacked an Indian army vehicle in the Machedi area of Billawar in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday. According to initial reports, the terrorists fired upon the vehicle, prompting a swift retaliation from the soldiers, which led to an intense encounter. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to bolster security efforts. This attack comes just a day after security forces successfully neutralized six terrorists in twin encounters in Kulgam. Five soldiers of the Army are feared drowned after being swept away while crossing a river in a T-72 tank near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Nyoma-Chushul area in Ladakh early Saturday, officials told PTI. According to the officials, the incident occurred near Mandir Morh, 148 kilometres from here, during an exercise around 1 am.
