Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra admitted to entrusting her Parliament login credentials to businessman Darshan Hiranandani in order to have his office assist in typing questions for the Lok Sabha. She denied involvement in accepting money from him and dismissed allegations of a 'cash-for-query' scandal. Moitra stated that she would read the questions before they were submitted and claimed that Hiranandani should produce verified records of any gifts or favors she purportedly received from him. The Ethics Committee has questioned both Moitra and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on the matter.
