CPI with Congress, CPM to go it alone in Telangana

The two Left parties in Telangana, CPI and CPM, are taking different approaches in the upcoming assembly elections. CPI has chosen to contest with the Congress party, accepting their offer of one assembly seat and two MLC seats. On the other hand, CPM has decided to go it alone after seat-sharing talks with Congress collapsed. This difference in approach is attributed to CPM's historical opposition to the Telangana statehood movement, whereas CPI supported its formation.
