Madras high court order offers LGBTs a ray of hope on gay marriage

The Madras high court has suggested the Tamil Nadu government consider adopting a 'deed of familial association' to provide protection and recognition for LGBTQIA+ couples. This emerging concept would allow individuals in such relationships to live together and be protected from harassment and discrimination. The deed would not grant legal status or rights of marriage or civil unions. This order comes after the Supreme Court refused to recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions, placing the responsibility on the legislature.
