Implementation of National Policy leads to 76% decline in Maoist violence in 2022
Steadfast implementation of the National Policy and Action Plan against Left-wing extremism (LWE) has resulted in consistent decline in Maoist violence across the affected states, with the number of incidents down by 76% in 2022 from a high of 2010, resultant deaths down by 90% and the arc of LWE violence constricted to 45 districts in 2022 from 96 in 2010. Sharing this assessment in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, junior home minister Nityanand Rai informed that a substantial decrease in incidence of LWE violence was seen in the last five years.
