IndiaTimes Wednesday, 13 December 2023
Neelam Verma, a revolutionary known for her participation in agitations against the agro-marketing-now-repealed laws, was detained by Delhi police for supporting wrestlers protesting against sexual harassment by a BJP MP. Despite sustaining serious spine injuries, she fought for the rights of downtrodden people under the MANREGA scheme. Neelam, who is highly qualified but unemployed, has been preparing for competitive exams and advocating against rampant unemployment. She also conducted self-defence classes and hoisted the tricolour on Republic Day. Farmer leaders and farmer unions have expressed support for Neelam and demanded her prompt release.
