Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury writes to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking review of House security system
Sunday, 17 December 2023 Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury urges Speaker Om Birla to investigate Parliament's security apparatus and the factors that led to the desperate attack by youth with smoke canisters. The attackers, who claimed joblessness as the reason, should be given a fair hearing. However, Speaker Om Birla insisted that the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address should be prioritised. Rahul Gandhi expressed the Opposition's intent to convey a unified message to Indian students, emphasising the importance of the NEET issue. He stated, "We wanted to give a joint message to the students of India, on behalf of the Opposition and Government - that we consider this an important issue. So, we thought that to respect students we will have a discussion on NEET today, a dedicated discussion."
