'One nation, One election': Omar Abdullah dares Centre to hold J&K Assembly and Parliament polls together

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 17 January 2024
National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah challenged the central government, urging it to conduct elections in Jammu and Kashmir simultaneously with the 2024 Lok Sabha polls if it genuinely advocated the concept of 'one nation, one election.' Abdullah pointed out that despite the government's extensive rhetoric on synchronized elections across the country, it has failed to implement this idea even in a single state, let alone the entire nation. The former J&K chief minister questioned the government's commitment to the unified election idea.
