The High Court of Himachal Pradesh stated that calling a person corrupt is defamatory. The court observed that while there is a right to criticism, there is no right to abuse or defame. The court allowed the petition filed by Jagat Singh Negi, a Congress MLA, against BJP leader Surat Singh Negi's dismissal of his defamation complaint.
