Army gets logistics drones in bid to cut manpower, mules march into history
Sunday, 21 January 2024 The Indian Army is progressively replacing its century-old animal transport fleet with Army logistics drones, robotic mules, all-terrain vehicles, and rough-terrain vehicles. This is part of the force restructuring and optimization plan to reduce manpower by 1 lakh personnel by 2027. The Army has already reduced the number of mountain artillery mules and will retire the remaining by 2025.
