TMC demands high-level probe from EC in alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee
TMC has demanded a high-level probe from the Election Commission of India into the alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram on March 10, said party leader Saugata Roy who also claimed that the alleged attack was part of a "deep rooted conspiracy".
"We have demanded a high-level probe into attack on Mamata Banerjee at Nandigram.
When incident happened, there was no police presence there.
The events leading up to the attempt on her life, leave no doubt, that the attack was part of deep rooted conspiracy," said Roy.
Recent bypolls across seven Indian states resulted in significant gains for the opposition INDIA bloc, which won 10 out of 13 assembly seats. The Congress party secured victories in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while the Trinamool Congress swept all four seats in West Bengal. The BJP won two seats, including one in Madhya Pradesh. These results are seen as a boost for the opposition and may indicate shifting political dynamics ahead of future elections.

Elon Musk advised against using electronic voting machines (EVMs) due to hacking risks, sparking debates on their security amid irregularities in Puerto Rico's primaries. However, India defended its third-generation M3 EVMs as tamper-proof, with no connectivity and oversight from IIT experts and the Election Commission. The Supreme Court issued directives to further strengthen EVM security while rejecting demands for 100% VVPAT verification.
