New Palanpur-Madar section of WDFC to soon open for freight trains operation
Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) recently conducted a freight train trial run on newly built New Palanpur-Madar section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) covering a distance of about 352.7 km.
Approximately 333 km of this section falls in Rajasthan and around 19 km in Gujarat state.
Total cost of work in the section is Rs.
7,020 crore.
This section contains 98 major bridges and viaduct, 531 minor bridges, 02 rail flyovers, 136 roads under bridges and 14 roads over bridges (04 completed and 10 under construction).
There are 12 newly built DFC stations in this section.
Out of which, nine are crossing stations and three junction stations- New Palanpur, New Marwar and New Bangurgram.
DFCCIL will run freight train at the maximum speed of 100 km/per hour as against the current maximum speed of 75 km/hour on Indian Railway tracks.
The opening of this stretch will benefit various industries in the areas of Rajasthan and Haryana.
