The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes to form the next government in Mizoram on its own, despite having just one legislator in the state assembly. If a fractured verdict occurs, the BJP is prepared to form an alliance with either the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) or the main opposition party, Zoram People's Movement (ZPM). The BJP is contesting in 23 out of 40 seats in the upcoming elections. The party claims that opposition propaganda branding them as anti-Christian has not affected their popularity in Mizoram.
