Record 78 MPs suspended in 1 day, total for session now 92
Parliament suspended 78 opposition MPs for defying House rules by showing placards, entering the well, and raising slogans over the December 13 security breach. This marks the highest number of suspensions on a single day in both Houses. The session, which began on December 4, is scheduled to conclude on Friday. Opposition parties called the move "autocratic," but Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar justified the action. The suspended MPs include Congress's leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, DMK MPs T R Baalu and Dayanidhi Maran, and TMC's Saugata Roy, among others.
